Truckee Town Council Proposes Long-Term Rental Preservation Program for Affordable Housing
The Truckee Town Council recently discussed a new initiative aimed at preserving long-term rentals. Placemate's Long-Term Rental Preservation Program offers incentives to property owners who rent to local workers for at least three years while keeping rents below market rates. The goal of the initiative is to stabilize workforce rental units and maintain affordable prices. The proposed rent cap framework is based on the 120% Area Median Income (AMI) for Truckee's workforce. The Council also discussed updates on the AB 1600 program, an increase in fire impact fees, and revisiting a policy on commercial properties. Despite concerns, the Council approved the updates, highlighting its commitment to the well-being of the community.
