Truckee-Tahoe Holiday Donation Guide

‘Tis the Season for Giving

The holiday season is upon us! In the hustle and bustle that comes with preparing for this time of year, we often forget about the spirit of the season. While most of us enjoy spending time with family and friends in the warmth of our homes, for others the holiday season is an entirely different experience.

Our community here in Truckee-Tahoe really comes together to make sure everyone has enough during the holidays. We love supporting our community in any way we can so we have highlighted some easy ways you can join in on the giving spirit.

Let’s show our community that Truckee-Tahoe cares!

Downtown Truckee during Christmas

Truckee Community Christmas

This year we are very excited about Truckee Community Christmas. This non-profit is an all-volunteer-run organization that coordinates various community drives benefiting families in need during the holiday season. They work with agencies like Sierra Community House, Nevada County Health, STEPP, churches, schools, and more to identify needy families and provide grocery store gift cards and toys for the kids.

Last year, Truckee Community Christmas benefited over 800 individuals in our community. This year, you can help even more. Find out how to volunteer here. For more specific donation needs read on!

Drop Off Locations

There are many different ways to give back to your community this holiday season. Truckee Community Christmas makes it easy by giving you a list of what is needed and where to donate - find the detailed list here

You can donate your gently used winter coats at the Church of the Mountains or Tahoe Forest Church until January 16. Clean out your closet while keeping someone else warm this season.

In lieu of food, let needy families pick out what they need and want for the holidays this year by donating grocery store gift cards, cash or Paypal. Grocery store gift cards are also donated to seniors in need in our community! Your donations in this area all go toward grocery store gift cards for those in need. Find out more here.
