Holiday Events Guide for North Tahoe and Truckee 2019
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and winter, in North Tahoe and Truckee! Around a foot of new snow is on the ground from our first storm. There is plenty more snow in the forecast over the next few weeks! Here’s your guide to holiday festivities in the North Tahoe and Truckee area to get you in the spirit!
Noel Nights at Northstar Resort
When: Fridays in Dec (6th, 13th, 20th) Where: Northstar Village
The Village at Northstar turns into a Winter Wonderland during the holidays. Enjoy live music, ice skating, face painting, activities and pictures with Santa himself. Bring 2 cans of food to receive $5 off Ice Skate Rentals and help support the Truckee Community Christmas. Bundle up and don’t forget there’s an outside bar at the ice rink!
Northern Lights Holiday Celebration
When: All of December! Where: Incline Village & Crystal Bay
A slew of events have been put together to celebrate the holidays all month long in Incline Village! JUBILATE! Holiday Concert
When: Fri Dec 13, 7 pm, Sun Dec 15th, 2 pm
Where: Assumption Catholic Church, Alder Dr, Truckee.
Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus presents this holiday concert at Assumption Catholic in Truckee. The chorus will be accompanied by Tahoe Christmastime Strings along side a pianist. The Truckee Tahoe Youth Chorus will also perform many lighter-hearted favorites. As always there will be the much loved audience sing-along. Tickets available at truckeechorus.org
West Shore Cafe Tree Lighting and Toy Drive
When: Fri Dec 13, 5pm-8pm Where: West Shore Cafe
A special evening at the West Shore Cafe featuring a pre-fixe menu, Christmas Tree Lighting at the end of the pier, Christmas Caroling by Tahoe Truckee School of Music, and a toy drive benefitting the local chapter of Toys for Tots.
Santa’s Fly-In at the Truckee Airport
When: Sat Dec 14 @ 10 am Where: Truckee Airport
An annual tradition in Truckee, Santa will arrive on his special plane at the Truckee Airport. Enjoy hot chocolate and treats and visit with Santa. This is a popular one, and for good reason! Where else do you get to see Santa fly in?!
The Twisted Nutcracker and Tale of the Rat King
When: Dec 14, 15, 20, 21, & 22 Where: Squaw Valley’s Merry Wonderland (Olympic Valley Lodge)
The Truckee Dance Factory will be performing their take on the holiday class The Nutcracker. This unique version features the original story alongside modern choreography in Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows’ Merry Wonderland at Olympic Valley Lodge. Disco Tubing With Santa
When: Th Dec 19, 5pm Where: SnowVentures at Squaw Valley
Get your groove on at Disco Tubing at Squaw’s SnowVentures. At this special edition of Disco Tubing, Santa will be getting down as well! This family-friendly party features LED lights, lasers, and music in addition to the special guest.
The Christmas Express
When: Dec 19, 20, 21 @ 7 pm Where: Truckee Community Arts Center
Get in the Christmas Spirit with this theatrical performance! The performance is full of eccentric small town characters wise-cracking their way to finding the true wonder of Christmas. And on the way, they make us all wish we could take a ride on The Christmas Express. Christmas Express Tickets
Ski With Santa
When: Dec 21-Dec 24, 11 am -2 pm Where: Homewood Resort
Keep your eyes open for Santa at Homewood! If catch a glimpse track him down for an awesome on-hill photo-opp and don’t forget to ask for a treat from his bag!
Merry Days Holly Nights at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows
When: Dec 19-24 Where: Merry Wonderland at Olympic Valley Lodge
So many holiday activities at Squaw! There are a whole slew of free family-friendly events ranging from “Reindeer Games”, train rides, Santa Storytime, Horse-drawn sleigh rides, and ice carving events. Free Family Activities . They will also feature Caroling in the Village from the 21st-24th from 4-7 pm, Santa’s Christmas Brunch on the 23rd, a Christmas Eve candle lighting service on the 24th followed by a Christmas Eve Holiday Dinner.
